Job summary

Magna Powertrain is seeking a Supplier Quality Development Engineer (SQDE) to drive quality initiatives across NA supplier networks. The role focuses on process standardization for launch programs, audits, and continuous improvement in supplier performance.

The candidate will lead audits, monitor KPIs, and coordinate changes while supporting new program launches and localization efforts. Domestic and international travel will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) is required.
• 3–10 years of experience in Supplier Quality Development.
• 6–10 years of experience in Powdered Metal.
• 2–4 years of experience in Plant Operations.
• Experience with aluminum/iron castings, forgings, electronics, stampings, power metal, fasteners, injection molding is a plus.
• Passport and ability to travel 50–80% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Conduct supplier-related audits (Capability, Run-at-Rates, Manufacturing Capability, Control Plan).
• Monitor supplier performance (Incidents, COPQ) and implement action plans.
• Identify supplier improvements and ensure corrective actions (KMIs).
• Issue supplier PPAPs and 8Ds (5-Why) and follow through to completion.
• Manage Cost Recovery with suppliers and coordinate Change Requests.
• Support manufacturing locations on supplier-related performance issues and training.
