Job summary

America's Heartland Packing is seeking an IT Program PLC Superintendent to lead the site IT functions, PLCs, and robotics, ensuring reliable operation and safety across the plant. You will guide upgrades, collaborate with operations, QA and engineering, and drive best practices in IT maintenance and training.

You will leverage PLC knowledge, read schematics, and manage a cross-functional team to meet facility needs while ensuring compliance with all regulations and internal standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5 years of experience managing IT dept (PLC programming).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising, planning, and scheduling a maintenance crew.
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all the IT functions for the site.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements from design through operation and maintenance.
  • Oversee facility computer program upgrades and collaborate with all departments.
  • Work with ops/QA/Engineering to meet facility needs (temps, air flows, utilities).
  • Maintain IT infrastructure, departments, and equipment; ensure safety.
  • Provide technical guidance and develop specs for the IT team.
  • Ensure proper training for refrigeration personnel.
  • Maintain a cross-functional team to avoid crewing impact.
  • Establish preventative maintenance programs and procedures for IT.
  • Requisition tools and supplies; keep critical spares in stock.
  • Promote succession development across responsibilities.

Overview

Job Summary

The IT Program PLC Superintendent is responsible for accountable for the IT Infrastructure, PLC’s robotics, scales, labelers, servers, and IT Dept.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all the IT functions for the site
  • Compliance with all federal, state, local and internal requirements from design through operation and maintenance of the plant. Ensure employees are aware of the requirements and their responsibility
  • Oversee facility computer program upgrades and collaborate with all departments to ensure best practices are always being followed
  • Work closely with cross functional teams (ops / QA / Engineering) to ensure facility needs are being met (temps / air flows / utilities etc)
  • Maintain all IT infrastructure, departments, and equipment. Ensure equipment is performing to high standards and in a safe manner at all times
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and develop specs for the IT team
  • Ensure proper training for all refrigeration personnel
  • Maintain a team that is cross-functional and trained in different areas of IT to ensure crewing changes do not impact the facility
  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance programs and procedures for the IT dept
  • Requisition tools / equipment and supplies as needed (ensure critical spares are in stock at all times)
  • Promote and drive succession development with areas of responsibility

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5 years of experience managing IT dept (PLC programming)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising, planning, and scheduling a maintenance crew
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in area of specialty is a plus
  • BS in computer science or in area of specialty preferred
  • Previous IT experience in a slaughter meat facility
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in PLC electronic theory and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and use blueprints, schematics and other diagrams
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate well with others
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to perform work with minimal direction
  • Time management skills

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
