Job summary

America's Heartland Packing seeks an IT Program PLC Superintendent to oversee IT infrastructure, PLCs, robotics, scales, labelers, servers, and the IT department at the Wright City plant.

You will plan and govern IT functions, ensure regulatory compliance, collaborate with operations, QA and engineering, and coach a cross-functional team to maintain safe, high-performance equipment.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience managing an IT department (PLC programming)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising, planning, and scheduling a maintenance crew
  • Read, write, and communicate in English with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all IT functions for the site
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and internal requirements from design through operation and maintenance
  • Oversee facility computer program upgrades and collaborate with all departments to ensure best practices are followed
  • Work with cross functional teams (ops / QA / Engineering) to meet facility needs (temps / air flows / utilities)
  • Maintain IT infrastructure, departments, and equipment to high standards and safety
  • Provide technical guidance and develop specs for the IT team
  • Ensure proper training for refrigeration personnel
  • Maintain a cross-functional team trained in IT to prevent crewing issues
  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance programs for IT
  • Requisition tools / equipment and ensure critical spares are in stock
  • Promote succession development with areas of responsibility

Overview

Job Summary

The IT Program PLC Superintendent is responsible for accountable for the IT Infrastructure, PLC’s robotics, scales, labelers, servers, and IT Dept.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee all the IT functions for the site
  • Compliance with all federal, state, local and internal requirements from design through operation and maintenance of the plant. Ensure employees are aware of the requirements and their responsibility
  • Oversee facility computer program upgrades and collaborate with all departments to ensure best practices are always being followed
  • Work closely with cross functional teams (ops / QA / Engineering) to ensure facility needs are being met (temps / air flows / utilities etc)
  • Maintain all IT infrastructure, departments, and equipment. Ensure equipment is performing to high standards and in a safe manner at all times
  • Provide technical guidance, direction, and develop specs for the IT team
  • Ensure proper training for all refrigeration personnel
  • Maintain a team that is cross-functional and trained in different areas of IT to ensure crewing changes do not impact the facility
  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance programs and procedures for the IT dept
  • Requisition tools / equipment and supplies as needed (ensure critical spares are in stock at all times)
  • Promote and drive succession development with areas of responsibility

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5 years of experience managing IT dept (PLC programming)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience supervising, planning, and scheduling a maintenance crew
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in area of specialty is a plus
  • BS in computer science or in area of specialty preferred
  • Previous IT experience in a slaughter meat facility
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in PLC electronic theory and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and use blueprints, schematics and other diagrams
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate well with others
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to perform work with minimal direction
  • Time management skills

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
