VPT, Inc. in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a full-time Receiving Inspector in the Quality Department.

You will ensure incoming raw materials, electronic components, and mechanical parts meet drawings and standards before they are accepted into inventory or released to production. Responsibilities include performing visual and dimensional inspections with calipers, micrometers, and microscopes; verifying CoCs and datasheets; conducting basic electrical tests; logging results in the ERP/QMS; and

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections on incoming components and raw materials using tools like calipers, micrometers, and microscopes.
• Verify component documentation, including Certificates of Conformance (CoC), manufacturer datasheets, and packing slips against purchase orders.
• Execute electrical or functional testing where applicable (e.g., verifying resistance, capacitance, or diode polarity using digital multimeters or LCR meters).
• Identify and segregate non-conforming materials, issue Material Rejection Reports (MRRs), and place physical "Hold" tags on defective lots.
• Document and log inspection results accurately in the company ERP or Quality Management System (QMS).
• Screen for counterfeit components, checking for suspicious markings, sanding marks, or poor packaging, especially when sourcing from independent distributors.
