Mercury Marine, a Brunswick Corporation brand, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer for the Plant 7 electronics assembly operations. You will drive process definitions, support NPI, and collaborate across manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure on-time launches and quality improvements.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in electronics manufacturing, strong IPC/engineering documentation skills, and fluency in technical communication.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering or related technical field required.
• 5+ years electrical/electronics manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing facility with responsibility for new product introduction of electronic assemblies.
• Experience creating documentation for new product launches (Work Instructions, Process Flow, PFMEA, control plans).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).
• Able to read/interpret engineering drawings and electronic schematics.
• Understand manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies and IPC standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Overview

As part of the Plant 7 team, you will provide technical process support in a cross-functional, collaborative, team environment for an electronics production operation which includes SMT and through-hole electronics assembly, conformal coating and encapsulation, final assembly and test. Focus will be on production assembly operations downstream of the SMT PCB population process. This includes new product introduction and current product support. Typical responsibilities are listed below. Work closely with manufacturing engineering, test engineering, production and quality department personnel to accomplish timely product launches, conformance to specifications and quality improvements.

Essential Functions

• Define process for new product and process improvement for current product in accordance with IPC industry standards
• Investigate and solve quality problems
• Respond to engineering questions and review/approve files from PCB suppliers
• Create and revise documentation including process flow, PFMEA, control plans, detailed operator work instructions, etc.
• Train production trainers on new products and processes
• Support manufacturing engineering department in accomplishment of design validation builds, process validation builds and start of production
• Assist in production equipment selection and fixture design

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering or related technical field required (Electrical/Electronics Engineering preferred)
• 5+ years electrical/electronics manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing facility with firsthand responsibility for new product introduction of electronic assemblies
• Experience in creation of documentation required for new product launch including Work Instructions, Process Flow, PFMEA, control plans, etc.
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment
• Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and electronic schematic diagrams
• Must understand manufacturing processes commonly used in the manufacture of electronic assemblies
• Must have a personal knowledge of IPC standards and their application to electronics manufacturing
• Must have excellent, fluent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
• Experience in L.S.S. and/or lean manufacturing principles and tools
• Experience working with potting and conformal coating
• Experience working in an ISO 9001 (or other related quality standard) compliant organization
• LSS Green Belt certification

The hiring range for this position is $70,600 to $101,800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
