Job summary

Artech L.L.C. seeks an electronics test technician to support reliability and manufacturing testing of automotive electrical hardware. You will operate software interfaces to exercise test equipment, calibrate thermal and vibration chambers, and troubleshoot DUTs across multiple labs in the Bay Area.

Role involves hands-on testing, documenting results, and contributing to first articles and schematics redlines with engineering leads. Onsite with travel within Palo Alto, Hayward & San Jose labs.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or relevant experience in electronics testing.
• Able to read electrical schematics, drawings, and data sheets.
• 5+ years of experience building automated test equipment or industrial automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate software interfaces to run test equipment during hardware bring up.
• Validate systems functionality using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, power supplies, DMMs).
• Own calibration and mechanical setup of thermal and vibration chambers.
• Troubleshoot, root cause, and document DUT, test equipment, and harness failures.
• Perform circuit board modifications such as component rework and soldering/desoldering.
• Support commissioning of new systems.

• Candidate should be able to understand a simple control vs ramp rate equation to determine the time needed for the ramp profile.
• Adequately read and explain basic functions of digital components on a schematic.
• Understand EVT, DVT, and PVT processes and Tester validation
• Knowledge dealing with the basic operation of the latest digital design schematics.
• Chamber and chiller hands-on experience and how setups could be assembled.
• Technical breadth regarding development cycles and be able to articulate their past engineering tasks and contributions.
• Hands-on experience to perform tests.
• Knowledge and operational expertise dealing with Automated test equipment and be able to convey how they would document test results.

In this role, you’ll be part of the team responsible for reliability and manufacturing testing of Automotive electrical hardware including Level 3+ ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and zonal Electronic Control Units (ECUs). Our team builds custom automated test solutions that include internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware. These solutions get deployed internally, at external labs, and contract manufacturing facilities. You’ll be a key technical part of the team and will work with the engineering leads to conduct reliability and manufacturing testing, review and report test data, build first articles, redline schematics, and troubleshoot issues.

• 5+ years of experience building automated test equipment (ATE) or industrial automation systems.
• Experience using power tools.
• Experience with soldering and circuit board re-work.
• Experience with electrical testing using laboratory tools.
• Ability to use Microsoft and Google productivity applications: spreadsheets, word processing, presentation
• Able to move/lift test boxes and instrumentation.
• Hands-on approach: proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed.
