Job summary

Peyton Resource Group in Plano, TX is seeking a Product Repair & Failure Analysis Engineer to troubleshoot, repair, and validate electronic products across PCBAs, box-builds, and finished assemblies during manufacturing and the RMA lifecycle.

You will perform teardown, rework, root-cause analysis, and collaborate with Test, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure products meet functional and quality requirements and to reduce repeat failures.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in electronics manufacturing, repair, failure analysis, or RMA investigations.
• Associate degree or hands-on experience in electronics tech.
• Knowledge of PCBAs, SMT, box-build, and repair processes.
• Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and specs.
• Soldering, rework experience with connectors and cable harnesses.
• Proficiency with test equipment: multimeters, scopes, power supplies.
• IPC-610 and IPC J-STD-001 knowledge preferred.
• IPC-7711/7721 rework and repair experience preferred.
• English/Mandarin bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, functional, and assembly failures across PCBA, subassemblies, cables, and finished products.
• Perform teardown, disassembly, troubleshooting, component replacement, soldering, and rework.
• Repair SMT and through-hole assemblies including BGA/QFN/QFP, connectors, and cable harnesses.
• Restore and reassemble products per engineering and quality requirements.
• Investigate RMA and returns, reproduce failures, determine root causes, and recommend repair or disposition.
• Coordinate post-repair testing and validation to ensure functional quality.
• Collaborate with Test, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Quality on 8D, CAPA, and corrective actions.
• Develop repair procedures, troubleshooting guides, and teardown/reassembly instructions.
• Maintain repair records, failure reports, and defect data.
• Analyze repair trends to reduce repeat failures, scrap, and turnaround time.
