Electronics Engineering Technician - Level IV

Description

We are looking for a talented Electronics Engineering Technician – Level IV to join our team specializing in Engineering at our Cummins Inc. facility in Fridley, MN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Leadership: Actively lead laboratory work priorities, activities, and team members, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality outcomes.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide advanced technical support for planning, scheduling, and testing on Electronic Systems test equipment and/or vehicles.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and train technicians in the use of specialized analytical instruments, equipment, and test methods, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Innovation: Develop and apply advanced test methods to enhance laboratory capabilities, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions, upholding high standards and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Interface with departmental management, customers, engineers, and other teams, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Technical Reporting: Perform analyses, data acquisition, and interpretation, and write comprehensive technical reports to support decision-making and project progress.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in improvement projects, audits, and corrective actions, demonstrating adaptability and responsiveness to changing work needs.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Master Data Acquisition: Ensure samples are prepared, equipment is calibrated, and tests are performed according to approved procedures, resulting in reliable data for engineers and customers.
  • Excel in Data Reporting: Organize and present testing methods, instrument settings, data, and analysis clearly to help engineers and customers understand results and make accurate conclusions.
  • Solve Product Problems: Use robust, data-based solutions to solve product issues, determine assignable causes, and implement actions to prevent recurrence, always protecting the customer.
  • Develop Product Software: Apply industry best practices and software engineering principles to construct and verify product software, ensuring high-quality updates.
  • Collaborate Effectively: Build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with others to achieve shared objectives.
  • Communicate Clearly: Develop and deliver communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Focus on Customers: Build strong relationships and deliver solutions that are centered around customer needs.
  • Make Quality Decisions: Make timely and effective decisions that keep the organization moving forward.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience in an appropriate STEM field is required. Regionally applicable certification or two-year Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field may be required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience.

Qualifications

  • Actively engage in HW design validation, product DVP&R execution, and support all laboratory work priorities and activities, including equipment and instrument calibration and maintenance, technical reporting, and documentation. Interface and coordinate with global and local test teams and other cross-functional teams as required.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for planning, scheduling, and testing using available test systems and equipment.
  • Engage in hands-on rework activities for PCBAs, prototype board bring-ups, wiring harness builds, and supporting maintenance of test fixtures.
  • Support problem solving and root cause analysis for HW design issues using a 7-step problem solving method.
  • Mentor and/or train other technicians and/or less experienced technical personnel on the use of specialized test instruments and equipment, following safety rules and protocols.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
