We are seeking a cleared or clearable Engineering Manager for a critical role, onsite at the Xetron facility, in our engineering organization, to be responsible for managing a team and ensuring successful completion of projects that support National Defense partners.
This is a dual role position, involving direct management of a talented team of high-performing multi-discipline engineers as well as project engineering leadership for technically advanced development programs to produce cutting-edge hardware and/or software products. The products produced at this facility support all domains of intelligence and defense battlespaces including land, sea, air, cyber, and space. Many of the problem-sets our customers expect us to solve do not have known solutions, so ingenuity is essential.
Your direct management responsibilities will include:
Managing and guiding multi-discipline engineers
Setting objectives and then monitoring and reviewing yearly progress for your team
Being responsible and accountable for managing the workload of your direct reports
Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top-ranked engineering talent
Providing timely, constructive support and feedback to your reports on a regular basis
Completing semi-annual performance assessments of your team members
Motivating your team members and facilitating regular meetings with them
Providing mentoring and career development to each team member
Coordinating training for each team member
Providing appropriate tools and resources for your team’s development activities
Your project engineering leadership duties will include:
Leadership of program technical execution in order to meet cost and schedule constraints
Program staffing for optimal execution
Technical direction, guidance, and mentoring of project team members
Working programs, proposals, and internally funded activities in a technical or leadership role
Risk-mitigation planning and execution
Strategic problem solving
Earned value management
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, or other STEM degree
Candidate must have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in an engineering role
Demonstrated technical leadership, engineering management, and/or program management experience
Experience in developing custom electronic hardware systems
US Citizenship is required
The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance (NG will sponsor)
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills
Current, active Top Secret clearance
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience in developing custom RF hardware systems
Experience in FPGA firmware development
Experience in DSP algorithm development
Experience as a technical lead, functional lead, or leadership in the military
Experience in multiple relevant technology areas
Experience in recruiting and developing top engineering talent
M.S., M.B.A., or other advanced degree
Salary Range: $138,100 - $207,100
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
