Electronics Engineer (CASIE) Fort Detrick, MD

STARTING SALARY:$57,736.00 - $133,142.00 per year

This position is part of the Army Fellows Program and is a CIVILIAN position with the Department of the Army.

This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce. The Army Fellows Program provides an exciting opportunity to embark on a developmental, accelerated career path as an Army Civilian including continued training and educational opportunities, with no military obligation. Fellows may also receive paid training, certifications, and rotational assignments.

As a Electronics Engineer, the incumbent will work under closer supervision performing assignments and completing training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the design and development of electronics engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria or specifications.
  • Assist with providing guidance and/or technical oversight on the design of local area networks or wireless local area networks.
  • Identify electronics engineering problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Review technical electronics engineering project design documents, computations, and submittals.
  • Prepare technical electronics engineering reports and studies with completeness, technical adequacy, and adherence to prescribed format of reports.

QUALIFICATIONS

Who May Apply: To be eligible for consideration you must meet the definition of as defined below:

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress‑strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the design and development of electronics engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria or specifications; or, assisting in the inspection and evaluation of electronics engineered projects and resources; or, assisting in identifying electronics engineering problems and recommending corrective action. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering.
