Job Overview

Starting Salary: $57,736 - $133,142 per year

Pay Progression: 1st Year $57,736-$75,059; 2nd Year $70,623-$91,815; 3rd Year $85,447-$111,087; 4th Year $102,415-$133,142

This position is part of the Army Fellows Program and is a CIVILIAN position with the Department of the Army. It is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

The Army Fellows Program provides an exciting opportunity to embark on a developmental, accelerated career path as an Army Civilian including continued training and educational opportunities, with no military obligation. Fellows may also receive paid training, certifications, and rotational assignments.

As a General Engineer, the incumbent will work under closer supervision performing assignments and completing training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria or specifications.
  • Assist in the inspection and evaluation of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria.
  • Identify engineering problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Review technical engineering project design documents, computations, and submittals.
  • Prepare technical engineering reports and studies with completeness, technical adequacy, and adherence to prescribed format of reports.
Qualifications

Who May Apply: To be eligible for consideration you must meet the following criteria. A bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering is required. The program must either:

  • Lead to a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in a school of engineering with at least one ABET‑accredited program; or
  • Include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first‑year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics:
    • a) Statics and dynamics
    • b) Strength of materials (stress–strain relationships)
    • c) Fluid mechanics and hydraulics
    • d) Thermodynamics
    • e) Electrical fields and circuits
    • f) Nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties)
    • g) Any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
The degree must be completed by June 2026. In addition, applicants must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid, volunteer, and related work, and credit may be given for qualifying experience. Transcripts will be required for those qualifying based on education.
