Job description

STARTING SALARY: $57,736 - $111,087 per year

PAY PROGRESSION:

  • 1st Year Salary $57,736 - $75,059
  • 2nd Year Salary $70,623 - $91,815
  • 3rd Year Salary $85,447 - $111,087

This position is part of the Army Fellows Program and is a CIVILIAN position with the Department of the Army. This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce.

As a General Engineer, the incumbent will work under closer supervision performing assignments and completing training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to.

In this role you will:
  • Assist in the design and development of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria or specifications.
  • Assist in the inspection and evaluation of engineered devices, equipment or systems using established criteria.
  • Identify engineering problems and recommend corrective action.
  • Review technical engineering project design documents, computations, and submittals.
  • Prepare technical engineering reports and studies with completeness, technical adequacy, and adherence to prescribed format of reports.
QUALIFICATIONS

Who May Apply: To be eligible for consideration you must meet the definition of as defined below:

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); OR (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress–strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. (Degree must be completed by June 2026.)
