Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks an electronic engineer to maintain and upgrade the HWIL infrastructure for the COOLR AEHF Satellite System Testbed. You will gain hands-on experience with satellite subsystems and work closely with fellow engineers across design-update, production, and test phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering role.
• Experience with digital/analog electronics incl. design and analysis.
• Experience with test and measurement equipment (DVM, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
• Experience troubleshooting hardware and software failures.
• Ability to read and create electronic schematics.
• Experience with PCB design and hardware lifecycle stages.
• Strong analog component knowledge (resistors, capacitors, MOSFETs, BJTs, diodes, inductors).
• Familiarity with test consoles, cable designs, interface panels, and custom chassis.
• Strong digital component knowledge (flip-flops, LUTs, logic gates, RAM).
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
• Active Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.

The Combined Orbital Operations Logistics Resiliency (COOLR) Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Satellite System Testbed team seeks an electronic engineer to maintain and upgrade the Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HWIL) infrastructure. The candidate will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with AEHF satellite subsystems.

Additionally, In this role the candidate will collaborate closely with fellow engineers throughout both the design‑update, production and test phases. Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related degree from an accredited college/university
• 2+ years of professional experience in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering role
• Prior experience with digital/analog electronics (such as design, circuit analysis, etc.)
• Experience with test and measurement equipment (e.g., Digital Voltmeter, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Function Generators)
• Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software failures
• Experience interpreting and creating electronic schematics
• Experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design
• Experience in every stage of the hardware lifecycle: concept, requirements, design, development, integration, and testing.
• Strong understanding of analog components (e.g., resistors, capacitors, MOSFETs, BJTs, diodes, and inductors)
• Knowledge of test consoles, cable designs, interface panels and custom chassis
• Strong understanding of digital components (e.g., flip flops, lookup tables, logic gates, shift registers, finite state machines, and memory hierarchies)
• Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment
• Active and current Secret clearance required. Thus US Citizenship is required

Desired Skills

• Experience integrating hardware such as FPGAs, DIO cards and PCBs with software
• Familiarity with digital serial protocols
• FPGA architecture and design, with applied knowledge of either the Xilinx, Intel or Microsemi FPGA devices and their associated application environments
• Experience writing custom FPGA RTL using Verilog, System Verilog or VHDL
• Having utilized Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, or Microsemi Libero development platforms to successfully build and test an executable hardware implementation of code which they have written
• FPGA behavioral simulation experience using Vivado XSIM or a similar tool
• Experience integrating FPGA IP with custom RTL is a plus
• Experience integrating hardware such as FPGAs, DIO cards and PCBs with software
• Experience in design, update, and managing engineering drawings and documentation.
• Experience and understanding of software languages such as C/C++
• Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $88100.00 - $163700.00
