Job summary

Powerus is seeking an Electronics Engineer to design, build, and validate electronic hardware for unmanned platforms. You will work across analog and digital circuits—sensing, conditioning, power, and interfaces—taking designs from concept through bring-up and proving them on the bench and in the aircraft.

You will own component selection, contribute to board layout, write tests, and stay involved through manufacturing so the shipped design matches what was reviewed.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Solid grounding in analog and digital circuit design and the ability to reason about a circuit from its schematic.
  • Practical bench skill - instrumentation, measurement technique, soldering, and rework.
  • Experience taking a circuit from idea through a working, characterized prototype.
  • U.S. Person status required (ITAR/EAR controls).

Position Overview

Powerus is hiring an Electronics Engineer to design, build, and validate electronic hardware for our unmanned platforms. You will work across analog and digital circuits - sensing, conditioning, power, and interfaces - take designs from concept through bring-up, and prove them on the bench and in the aircraft. You will own component selection, contribute to board design, write the tests that qualify your work, and stay involved through manufacturing so the design that ships is the design that was reviewed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design analog and digital circuits for sensing, signal conditioning, power, and interface functions
  • Capture schematics, contribute to board layout, and drive designs through review to release
  • Bring up new hardware, characterize performance, and debug to root cause
  • Select components against electrical requirements, lifecycle, availability, and NDAA and Blue UAS constraints
  • Build test fixtures and write procedures that make a design's performance measurable and repeatable
  • Characterize behavior across temperature, voltage, and load, and document the margins
  • Investigate noise, EMI, grounding, and interference problems on integrated hardware
  • Support integration with embedded software, mechanical packaging, and vehicle systems
  • Produce and maintain schematics, BOMs, test records, and revision-controlled documentation
  • Work with manufacturing and assembly partners on buildability, yield, and process feedback
Qualifications
  • Must be located in the United States, within commuting distance of Charlotte, NC, and able to work on-site
  • Degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Solid grounding in analog and digital circuit design and the ability to reason about a circuit from its schematic
  • Practical bench skill - instrumentation, measurement technique, soldering, and rework
  • Experience taking a circuit from idea through a working, characterized prototype
  • U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)); this role involves access to ITAR- and EAR-controlled technical data
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with UAV, aerospace, robotics, instrumentation, or other embedded hardware
  • Familiarity with an ECAD tool such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or KiCad
  • Exposure to sensor interfaces, data acquisition, or mixed-signal design
  • Experience with EMI, grounding, and shielding on integrated systems
  • Comfort scripting test automation in Python or a similar language
  • Experience carrying a design through environmental or compliance testing
