Job summary

Allison Transmission is seeking an Electronics Lab Supervisor to lead the electronics and calibration lab within the Engineering Operations Department. You will manage a diverse team of technicians, ensuring strict calibration compliance, first time quality, and support for engineering projects.

Responsibilities include coordinating test activities, overseeing DAQ systems, maintaining calibration records for audits, and partnering with engineering to drive vehicle integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in EE or EET or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electronics calibration, instrumentation troubleshooting, and component‑level repair.
  • 2+ years of supervisory, team lead, or senior technician experience in lab/manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in electronics labs with motor control systems, industrial calibration practices for IATF 16949, and configuring complex DAQ equipment.

  • Lead collaborative efforts with Engineering teams to drive successful vehicle integration and coordinate test cell readiness.
  • Oversee all daily calibration activities for test equipment, DAQ systems, and production calibration hardware.
  • Review instrumentation performance metrics regularly and recommend optimal replacement or upgrade equipment.
  • Lead the technical integration and deployment support of specialized test hardware.
  • Drive rapid diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex test equipment malfunctions to ensure First Time Quality (FTQ).
  • Oversee fabrication of custom test fixtures, wire harnesses, and prototype electronics.
  • Serve as the primary quality SME during IATF 16949 audits to clarify laboratory processes and minimize findings.
  • Maintain comprehensive calibration records to ensure traceability and audit readiness.

Job Description

As the Electronics Lab Supervisor, you will lead the electronics and calibration laboratory within the Engineering Operations Department at Allison Transmission, Inc. In this role, you will manage a diverse team of Electronics and Calibration Technicians, directing daily workflows to ensure strict IATF 16949 calibration compliance, first time quality and operational support for engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead collaborative efforts with Engineering teams to drive successful vehicle integration and coordinate test cell readiness.
  • Oversee all daily calibration activities for test equipment, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, and production calibration hardware.
  • Review instrumentation performance metrics regularly and recommend optimal replacement or upgrade equipment.
  • Lead the technical integration and deployment support of specialized test hardware.
  • Drive rapid diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex test equipment malfunctions to ensure First Time Quality (FTQ).
  • Oversee the fabrication of custom test fixtures, wire harnesses, and prototype electronics.
  • Serve as the primary quality Subject Matter Expert (SME) during IATF 16949 audits to immediately clarify laboratory processes and minimize findings.
  • Manage relationships with external calibration providers to guarantee all outsourced instruments strictly meet ISO 17025 standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive, audit-ready calibration records for both Product Engineering and Production equipment to ensure flawless traceability.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, ESD protocols, and environmental safety regulations across the lab environment.
Key Performance Measures
  • Proven ability to manage laboratory throughput to guarantee the timely completion of work while consistently meeting First Time Quality (FTQ) targets for all repairs, fabrications and calibrations.
  • Maintain flawless, up-to-date calibration records and databases to ensure constant readiness for internal and external quality audits that support IATF 16949 requirements.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s Degree in EE or EET or equivalent experience.

Experience
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electronics calibration, instrumentation troubleshooting, and component‑level repair
  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory, team lead, or senior technician role within a laboratory or manufacturing environment
  • Proven background in electronics laboratory environments, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of motor control systems, industrial calibration practices supporting IATF 16949 compliance, and the configuration of complex data acquisition (DAQ) equipment.
