Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks an Electronics Assembler A based in Sykesville, Maryland. This role involves building electronic and mechanical assemblies, such as circuit card assemblies, cable assemblies, and cabinet assemblies, using electronic components, mechanical parts, drawings and engineering documentation. The position requires a current US Government Secret Security Clearance.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Obtain necessary information to perform job assignment and report discrepancies.
- Plan, lay out, assemble, wire and solder completed electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment, including PC boards, controls, panels, converters, inverters, and small output stations.
- Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams for point‑to‑point assembly.
- Perform wiring using harness boards, tie‑in cables and harnesses; install mechanical parts, components and fasteners as specified.
- Work as a member of an assembly team assigned.
- Lay out and construct harness boards to assemble and form wiring and cables for a variety of assemblies and sub‑assemblies.
- Mix and apply bonding components and encapsulates.
- Perform product finishing functions and maintain proper certifications such as conformal coating, paints/epoxies.
- Use and operate a broad range of hand tools, assembly equipment and safety equipment.
- Understand and use a broad range of electrical/electronic and mechanical parts such as brackets, solder, wire, resistors, diodes, capacitors, relays, transformers, coils, switches, PC boards, epoxies.
- Work closely with other personnel, attend training courses for career development.
- Maintain equipment and work area clean and orderly.
Basic Qualifications
- Current active US Government Secret Security Clearance (minimum) with investigation date less than 5 years ago.
- High School graduate or recognized equivalent (GED) with minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in electronics, test, assembly or manufacturing/production.
- Experience in electrical assembly and wiring, soldering of PC boards.
- Experience reading drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Able to work 1st shift or 2nd shift; after training on 1st shift you may stay or move to 2nd shift.
- Capable of successfully completing basic solder certification, visual acuity test and in-house skills training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read/understand electrical schematics or engineering drawings.
- Previous assembly experience.
- AA Degree.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP/MRP system.
- Circuit card assembly and rework experience.
- Mechanical assembly and repair experience.

- Salary range: $50,882.00 – $121,755.00 (depending on scope, responsibilities and experience).
