Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking an Electronics Assembler in Rapid City, SD. The role focuses on assembling miniature PCB assemblies, operating auto-assembly equipment, and performing quality inspections.

You will support test procedures and ensure adherence to assembly instructions in a full-time daytime schedule. The position requires at least 2 years of electronics assembly experience and the ability to solder under a microscope.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in electronics assembly experience.
• Experience hand-soldering miniature components.
• Ability to read and follow assembly instructions.
• Able to work under a microscope and inspect assemblies.
• Willingness to learn IPC standards and processes.

Responsibilities

• Assemble miniature printed circuit assemblies and set up auto assembly machines.
• Operate computerized test systems for assemblies.
• Perform visual quality assurance of completed assemblies.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair defects in manufacturing.
• Read and implement detailed assembly instructions.

Position Summary

• The Manual Assembly / Soldering & Housing [MASH] - Electronics Assembler will be a technical resource responsible for assembling miniature printed circuit assemblies, setting up auto assembly machines and operating computerized test systems.
• Additionally, the electronics assembler will perform visual quality assurance of assemblies completed in the auto assembly process.

• Location – Rapid City, SD
• Full-Time Position
• Hours – Monday-Friday (7:00am – 3:30pm); voluntary OT is sometimes available
• Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years’ electronics assembly experience hand soldering miniature electronics components.

Further qualifications include:

• Ability to solder high density miniature circuits under a microscope
• Must read and understand assembly instructions
• Ability to perform miniature detailed assembly work
• Inspect electronics assemblies
• Practical understanding of electronic components
• Troubleshoot products in manufacturing
• Ability to work with a microscope and various assembly tools
• Desire to work
• Be punctual and reliable.
• Working knowledge of IPC-Standards expected but not required.

• Understand and implement assembly instructions from computer-based documentation

• Operate computer-based test systems
• Assist in inventory audit
