Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ seeks an electronics maintenance technician to repair and maintain district systems and components. You will install electronic systems to ensure safe, uninterrupted service and collaborate with district staff and contractors.

The role requires working knowledge of fire alarm, intercom, sound, and video systems, plus the ability to read plans and schematics. On-site, full-time position with benefits.

Qualifications

  • MUST obtain NICET certification within 6 months of hire; district pays fee.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair district electronic communication systems (fire alarm, intercom, video, sound).

  • Process documentation and related paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Assist others to support their work activities as needed.

Employment Type:

Full-time (40 hours per week)

Base Hourly:

$28.85

Class/Calendar:

C41, 12 months

Benefits:

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

New Hire Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Job Summary:

To repair various electronic systems and components and to maintain them in safe operating condition; and to install electronic systems to provide safe and uninterrupted service.

Written Test Required At Time Of Application

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Maintenance. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair district electronic communication systems (i.e. fire alarm, intercom, video, sound, and other related systems)
  • Coordinate with appropriate district personnel and contractor to develop project specifications and follow up on contractor progress
  • Process documentation and other paperwork associated with job requirements in a timely manner
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license
  • Formal education in electronics field
  • Must obtain NICET certification within 6 months of hire, training and exam fee to be provided by the district
  • Minimum two years’ experience in the electronics repair or related field; excellent attendance record
  • Working knowledge and experience of fire alarm, intercom, sound and video systems; proficiency with computer systems
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic devices and circuitry; ability to diagnose component failure and repair

  • Ability to work overtime and to change schedules with minimal notice; willingness to work non-regular hours (weekends, night shift, swing shift, holidays)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Work is primarily performed on-site at various school district buildings, including classrooms, offices, maintenance areas, and sometimes outdoors
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, and electrical hazards. May work in cramped spaces.
  • May require early morning, evening, or weekend work to avoid school disruptions
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work on scaffolding or elevated platforms
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for fine motor tasks (e.g., wiring, soldering, assembling parts)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (e.g., equipment, tools, cables)
