Job summary

Sig Sauer, Inc. is seeking an Electronics Technician II to support manufacturing and testing of robotic systems. You will work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to troubleshoot, calibrate, and improve production processes on a primarily on-site basis.

Requires 3–6 years of UxS experience, blueprint reading, GD&T knowledge, and proficiency with CAD and MS Office. The role emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and adherence to ISO procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Train operators on proper use of production equipment.
  • Assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of process documentation including work instructions and control plans.
  • Provide detailed technical services for new but similar products in machine/tool setup, line organization, and system validation on the production floor.
  • Evaluate and improve legacy and new production product designs for manufacturability, applying GD&T and IPC standards.
  • Assist with procuring components and equipment for legacy and new products to meet production schedules and cost targets.
  • Troubleshoot and fix production issues; seek support from Manufacturing Engineers as needed.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and communicate issues to supervision.

Position Summary:

The Electronics Technician II is responsible for performing daily activities associated with the manufacturing and testing of robotic systems at SIG SAUER's facilities. This position provides technical services involving moderate to complex UxS design, programming and setup of specialized calibration and assembly equipment, technical input for work instructions, and production floor level problem solving and data collection. This position is intended for Electronics Technicians with intermediate experience in UxS technology and a demonstrated ability to perform more complex technical tasks. This is a team-oriented position that works with Engineering, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, and Quality team members.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose complex robotic issues, perform mid-level repairs, calibrate systems, update software, and support integration of new automation.
  • Train operators on proper use of production equipment.
  • Assist with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of process documentation including work instructions, control plans, and visual standards.
  • Provide detailed technical services for completely new but similar products in two or more of the following areas on a daily basis to the production floor: machine/tool setup, line organization, flight testing, troubleshooting, and system validation.
  • Evaluate and improve legacy and new production product designs for manufacturability while applying GD&T, IPC standards, and/or empirical testing methods.
  • Recommend and implement alterations and enhancements to improve quality of legacy and new production products, and/or procedures, and the output and quality of legacy and new production manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with procuring components and equipment for legacy and new products to meet production schedules, launch timelines, and cost targets.
  • Troubleshoot and fix production issues on legacy and new production products. Seek occasional support from Manufacturing Engineers for persistent issues.
  • Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and assist in identifying corrective action.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality are necessary functions of this position.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts, or in other functional areas, and/or facilities based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Skills:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 3-6 years of UxS technical experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret part specifications.
  • Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) ASME Y14.5M-2009 and/or IPC standards for Electronics Manufacturing.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (CoPilot, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and basic CAD system. Familiarity with autopilot systems and moderate knowledge of free fly hardware including programming software.
  • Must be able to execute multiple tasks necessary to meet job duties and responsibilities.
  • Must work as part of a team and be able to lead, plan, and execute multiple projects.
Working Conditions:
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
