Job summary

A leading company in motor vehicle manufacturing is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician for a 12+ month contract. The role involves prototyping, diagnosing, and repairing electronic systems, requiring strong technical skills and 8+ years of experience. Candidates should possess a Technology/Technician degree or equivalent experience, with a preference for electric vehicle expertise. This position is onsite and may require travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

Job Title: Electronics Lab Technician

Duration: 12+ Months with Possible extension

Job Description:

This role is 100% onsite at the specified location.

Schedule

8-5/9-6 M-F (with flexibility depending on business needs)

Responsibilities:

1. Prototyping & EE Lab Equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies & Digital Multimeters
2. Perform diagnosis, rework, and repair of ECU’s, PCB’s, and testers, including prototypes and test bench setups, to engineering specifications and standards.
3. Create documentation for test and assembly processes, maintaining detailed records.
4. Communicate effectively with engineers, managers, and technicians to ensure technical support.
5. Analyze and troubleshoot complex electrical systems, identify failures, and recommend corrective actions.
6. Read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics.
7. Fabricate test boards and solder components as small as 204.
8. Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically.
9. Work long hours and weekends as required.

Qualifications:

1. 8+ years of experience in electronics/engineering labs.
2. Technology/Technician degree or equivalent experience.
3. Preferred: Electric vehicle experience.
4. Soldering and harnessing skills.
5. Knowledge of low voltage electrical safety.
6. Experience with test equipment like voltmeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, antennas.
7. Strong technical skills and experience with MS Office tools.
8. Familiarity with Jira is a plus.
9. Certifications such as IPC-610, IPC-620, IPC-7711, IPC-7721, or J-STD-001 are a plus.
