Job summary

Musco is seeking an Electronic Technician for the Oskaloosa office to troubleshoot and repair electronic products returned from customer facilities. The role requires an associate degree or equivalent training in electronics, with soldering of SMT and through-hole PCB assemblies and IPC certification preferred.

You will work both independently and as part of a team, supporting manufacturing and collaborating with product developers.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or military electronics training or equivalent experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic products; solder SMT and through-hole PCB assemblies.
• IPC soldering certification preferred (IPC-J-STD-001 and/or IPC 7711/7721).
• Ability to troubleshoot circuits to component level using schematics and test equipment.
• Soldering of thru-hole and surface-mount components.
• Basic lab safety practices and equipment handling.
• Strong problem-solving and willingness to learn; work well independently or in a team.
• Basic MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and conduct root-cause analysis on Musco electronics returned from customers.
• Support manufacturing by soldering and reworking assemblies failing internal tests.
• Perform repairs on returned devices and document results.
• Collect repair data and maintain repair database.
• Provide guidance to less experienced RMA technicians.
• Assist with test fixture and test system development and maintenance (hardware/software/mechanical).
• Help develop and document troubleshooting protocols and feedback to design teams.

The Musco RMA Operations Team has an opening for an Electronic Technician at our Oskaloosa office. In this position, you will perform troubleshooting and repair of electronic products returned from customer facilities.

• Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, completion of military electronics training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic products, including experience soldering both fine-pitch SMT and through-hole PCB assemblies.
• IPC soldering certification preferred (IPC-J-STD-001 and/or IPC 7711/7721).
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits to the component level using schematics in conjunction with common test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.) and specialized test systems.
• Ability to solder thru-hole and surface mount components.
• Working knowledge of basic lab safety practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, willingness to learn, and self-motivated.
• Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
• Basic MS Office proficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Supports manufacturing by soldering and reworking assemblies that have failed internal inspection or tests.
• Perform repairs on returned devices.
• Collect repair data and maintain repair database.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced RMA operations technicians.
• Assist with design, construction, and maintenance of test fixtures and test systems as required. Includes hardware, software, and mechanical activities.
• Assist with developing and documenting troubleshooting protocols.
• Provide feedback to product developers for design corrections and enhancements.
