Job summary

APR Consulting is seeking an Electronic Technician in the Buffalo, NY area to assemble and test electronic components per drawings and job aids to meet customer requirements. The role pays $27.50/hr on W2, DOE, with a 12-month+ duration and a 9/80 schedule on the second shift (4:00 PM - 12:30 AM, lunch 30 minutes).

Responsibilities include RF and digital circuit testing, troubleshooting, data recording, and collaboration with engineers on test procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Electronics knowledge gained through schooling, the military or work experience
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow procedures and drawings
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Test and troubleshoot RF products including RF microelectronic devices, RF amplifiers, switches, mixers, etc.
  • Test and troubleshoot digital circuit cards.
  • Analyze equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in products and integrated test systems.
  • Diagnose non-conformances using schematics, wiring diagrams, source control drawings and other test procedures and equipment.
  • Perform RF tuning on microelectronics, under a microscope for much of the workday.
  • Maintain or calibrate test equipment.
  • Record and ensure validity of entries into data collection and test systems.
  • Interpret and recommend corrective action to test findings.
  • Execute proper documentation of actions performed in applicable forms.
  • Perform a variety of tasks ranging from repetitive to non-repetitive production assembly operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Learn tasks under microscope on very small assemblies with high manual dexterity and precision.
  • Record production data accurately in travelers, shop floor systems, and quality records.
  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to assist in writing or modification of test procedures.
  • Follow all safety, ESD, FOD, and cleanliness guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work area.
  • Complete in-house workmanship criteria training classes for continued employment.

Pay Rate: $27.50/hr. on W2 (DOE)

Duration: 12 months or longer

Schedule: 9/80 - 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM (hours include unpaid 30-minute lunch)

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Electronics knowledge gained through schooling, the military or work experience
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow procedures and drawings
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on use of the drawings, wire lists, source control drawings, or test procedures.
  • Experience working with microelectronics and performing tuning under a microscope.
  • Experience in working with test equipment.
  • Experience working with engineering teams.
  • Experience with soldering and electronic assembly processes.
  • Working knowledge of defense electronics, with a preference to Electronic Warfare systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a performance based and metrics driven culture.
  • Basic computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
