Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Commercial/Industrial Electronic Security Technician to support the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD federal team. The role is on-site with first shift hours, and pays negotiable based on experience.

Responsibilities include installing, testing, and maintaining electronic security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion) and coordinating with emergency services. Prior Lenel/DMP/Milestone experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience installing/inspecting/troubleshooting commercial or industrial security systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, diagrams and manuals.
• Effective written and verbal communication; teamwork skills.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD clearance; active clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install ESS and infrastructure per NEC, including access controls, intrusion, and CCTV (Lenel Onguard, DMP, Milestone, ICIDS).
• Assist with security system programming and setup.
• Test equipment operation after installation or repairs.
• Coordinate with police/fire departments and manage notification records.
• Provide End-User training and ensure safe work practices.

We are seeking a commercial or industrial Electronic Security Technician to join our federal team supporting the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD.

Location: Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. All work is based at this location. No additional travel is required.

Target Pay Range: Negotiable based on experience.

Shift: First shift, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm.

As a Security Installation Technician, you will:

• Install Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and infrastructure in accordance with the national electric code, to include, but not limited to, access controls, intrusion detection, and camera systems. Specific systems include, but not limited to: Lenel Onguard, DMP, Milestone, and ICIDS (Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System)
• Assists with security system programming and setup.
• Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs
• Conducts testing of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
• Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
• May help prepare estimates in accordance with prescribed instructions or directions from supervisor
• Conduct End-User training.
• Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and cleans up installation debris.
• Performs other duties as required

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and/or repairing commercial or industrial integrated / electronic security systems for complex low voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV and digital recording systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
• Capable of using hand and power tools to properly mount and secure equipment
• Works well unsupervised and also as part of a team environment
• The ability to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense clearance. Active clearance preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency working with Lenel Onguard or DMP
• Proficiency working with commercial and/or industrial camera systems.
• Experience working with ICIDS (Integrated Commercial Intrusion Detection System) preferred.
