Job summary

tsu.edu seeks an Electronic Security Designer to join its Protective Design & Security practice. You will help plan and coordinate access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related systems across buildings, campuses, and mixed-use environments.

You’ll connect security measures with architecture, infrastructure, and operations in a collaborative setting. You will build diagrams, technical narratives, and documentation, while developing technical and project coordination skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, security engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Interest in electronic security, low-voltage systems, and security technology integration.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design and planning for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related security systems.
• Assist with technology selection and design, infrastructure coordination, and integration of security measures into project designs.
• Help prepare diagrams, technical narratives, presentations, and design documentation communicating security measures clearly.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and AV/IT specialists in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Participate in on-site assessments, field surveys, and construction-phase activities.
• Develop foundational knowledge of cabling, power, and networks for security systems.
• Build familiarity with TSU’s culture, services, and interdisciplinary approach to security and resilience while growing your technical and professional skills.
