Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience in academic library settings and familiarity with library systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide access to and ensure discoverability of electronic resources via ILS and library catalog.
  • Configure authentication, Open Athens, and vendor accounts; update resources.
  • Manage collection inventory, MARC imports, and vendor websites.

The shift for the position is Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The faculty members serve as both instructors of information literacy and stewards of library resources. The staff members support the operation of the libraries whether it be assisting patrons at help desks, making the various library resources ready for patron use, or providing access to library technology.

Responsibilities Include
  • Provide access to and ensures the discoverability of electronic resources by administering, supporting, and monitoring resources within the ILS and library catalog.
  • Manage technical authentication configuration for electronic resources including allocation of resources in Open Athens, link resolvers in ILS, and vendor administrative account updates.
  • Configure and maintain access to electronic resources by updating and maintaining West Chester University collection inventory and linking information through the Knowledgebase, MARC record imports, and administrative modules on vendor websites.
  • Maintain Springshare’s Databases A-Z list.
  • Provide first line troubleshooting to resolve access issues for patrons both on- and off‑campus.
  • Serve as a technical contact for electronic resources vendors, relating to troubleshooting issues. Oversee a ticketing system to manage, track, and resolve issues. Monitor vendor system alerts and communicates to staff when needed.
  • Implement, maintain, and troubleshoot usage data harvests (via the NISO standard SUSHI and COUNTER). Upload current and retrospective e-resource usage data to ILS for non‑SUSHI compliant vendors. Collect, organize, and maintain all usage data files for all electronic resource vendors.
  • Maintain vendor support account information, including administrative, statistical, and Read-and-Publish logins.
  • Under the direction of the Resource Services Manager, collaborate with the Acquisitions & Serials Technician, the Collections Strategist Librarian, the Discovery Librarian, and the Library Systems Team in the electronic resource lifecycle.
  • Manage an organizational system of agreements and licenses in library applications to provide access and ensure licenses are current.
  • In conjunction with the Resource Services unit, writes and maintains documentation for policies and procedures related to the workflow of electronic resources and library practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Four years of library-clerical work including two years of advanced library clerical work comparable to Library Assistant II, and graduation from high school OR
  • Two years of advanced library clerical work, and an associate degree or equivalent training with major course work in library science OR
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of library techniques, procedures, and working tools used in accessing, cataloging, circulating; and maintaining library materials
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in bibliography preparation and the use of library research materials
  • Knowledge of reader comprehension and interest levels of library patrons
  • Skill in the application of the techniques and procedures used in cataloging
  • Ability to apply library methods and principles in circulation and providing reader services
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other library personnel and the public
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an academic library or higher education setting
  • Experience using ALMA or related library management systems
  • Experience troubleshooting equipment issues related to accessing information online
  • Customer service experience
  • Library help desk experience
