Job description

NCLIVE is seeking an Electronic Resources Librarian to ensure access for all North Carolinians to NC LIVE’s online collection of over 1.8 billion full-text articles, ebooks, streaming videos, digitized newspapers, and more. These resources are a combination of owned, subscribed, and Open Access resources available to all residents of North Carolina. The Electronic Resources Librarian plays a key role in NC LIVE’s day-to-day operations by maintaining various points of access to these resources for member libraries and end-users, including through the NCLIVE website, authentication system, discovery system, and vendor interfaces.

This position plays a crucial role in supporting NC LIVE’s mission to provide high-quality digital resources statewide. They collaborate with colleagues at 200+ member institutions to integrate NC LIVE’s content into their local systems and enhance e-resource discovery and usage across the state. In addition, they maintain close working relationships with vendors, content providers, and other consortia in support of e-resource usability and accessibility. This position reports to the Executive Director and serves as a liaison to one NCLIVE advisory committee.

This position is based in North Carolina. It is eligible for flexible hours and a hybrid work environment, based on organizational and operational needs.

Responsibilities

The Electronic Resources Librarian’s duties and responsibilities include:

1. Ensuring access to NC LIVE’s electronic resources for member libraries and end users
2. Supporting libraries in integrating NCLIVE content into their local systems and in providing access via their remote authentication methods
3. Troubleshooting and remedying electronic resource issues to ensure usability and accessibility
4. Managing and maintaining discovery and metadata for consortial e-resources
5. Maintaining remote resource access to NC LIVE’s resources via NC LIVE’s EZproxy instances
6. Building and maintaining close working relationships with content providers, vendors, and other consortia and member libraries in support of e-resources discovery and access
7. Contributing to the assessment of resources and services by analyzing and reporting on usage trends and collections data
8. Maintaining current knowledge of regional and national trends in e-resource management
9. Collaborating closely with NCLIVE and member library staff
10. Liaising with one NCLIVE advisory committee
