Job summary

Northwestern University Libraries seeks an innovative librarian to oversee access to electronic resources and digital research materials, managing discovery systems and the Alma holdings portfolio of the library.

Under the Licensing and E-Resources Acquisitions Librarian, you will evaluate AI-enabled tools, improve authentication workflows, train staff, and coordinate multi-site access to ensure reliable access for students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

• ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent training/experience.
• 2 years of experience in e-resource access management or related library operations.
• Familiarity with e-resource workflows and access management.
• Interest in AI and emerging tech to enhance workflows.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electronic resource access and discovery, including Alma holdings.
• Improve user access by resolving remote access issues and authentication challenges.
• Update and manage metadata for electronic resources.
• Evaluate and implement AI tools to enhance access and workflows.
• Communicate with vendors/publishers to resolve access issues.
• Coordinate multi-site access across Northwestern University Libraries.
• Lead staff training on access, authentication, and privacy.
