Job description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position:

This position is military technician position with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Carson West located at Fort Carson, Colorado.

Who May Apply:

US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
  • Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision.
  • Conduct inspections of electrical equipment, use test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction, and complete repairs of electrical equipment using hand and power tools.

Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical effort:

Work assignments often involve prolonged standing and considerable kneeling, bending, stooping and stretching as well as frequent climbing and descending of aircraft and maintenance stands. Occasionally, work in cramped and awkward positions may be required. Work frequently requires unassisted lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Work may require carrying objects in excess of 20 pounds with assistance.

Working Conditions:

Work is usually performed inside of well-lit, heated and ventilated areas. Outside work is usually performed in good weather conditions. However, under special or emergency situations work may be required in inclement weather on icy, wet and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and maintenance stands. The incumbent is exposed to potential injury from high voltage, RF and IR radiation, aircraft rotors, jet blast, hazardous noise levels, hot components and falls from maintenance stands and aircraft structures. In addition, the incumbent may be exposed to fumes, solvents, dust, dirt, grease and oil.
