Job summary

Bird Technologies in Solon, OH is seeking an Electronic Assembler to build electronic components, subassemblies and complete assemblies, including soldering both through-hole and surface-mount parts.

Responsibilities include reading work orders, following drawings, performing IPC-compliant soldering, setting up wave soldering equipment, and inspecting to ensure parts meet specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Soldering including through-hole and surface-mount tech.
• Ability to use small hand tools and run assembly machines.

Responsibilities

• Follow work orders and production drawings.
• Perform IPC-standard soldering for through-hole and surface-mount parts.
• Set up and operate wave soldering equipment.
• Assemble per routing instructions and mount subassemblies.
• Inspect assemblies to verify conformance to specs.

Purpose of Position

Assemble electronic components, subassemblies, products, or systems. Including the soldering of surface mount and through-hole electronic components and wires to printed circuit boards.

General Functions and Specific Responsibilities

Work consists of routine tasks, processes or operations requiring selection of clearly prescribed policies and procedures.

Specific Responsibilities

• 1.Develop an environment of continual improvement through the use of Lean tools.

• 3.Responsible for describing the quality policy and goals, your contribution to quality, and the effects of not observing requirements
• 4.Read work orders, follow production drawings and sample assemblies.
• 5.Position and align parts in specified relationship to each other in printed circuit board, element assemblies and integrated circuits.
• 6.Preform soldering duties to IPC standards, both thru hole and surface mount.
• 7.Setup and operate wave solder machine.
• 8.Assemble per routing instructions.
• 9.Mount assembled subassemblies as required.
• 10.Connect or route component lead wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points.
• 11.Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases.
• 12.Perform on line go, no-go inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet specifications and standards.
• 13.Perform computerized testing as required.

Knowledge and Skills Required

High school diploma or equivalent. Language skills, mathematical skills and reasoning ability. Soldering such as through hole and surface mount technology. Ability to use small hand tools and run assembly machines, ie. wave solder machine, small drill presses, torque drivers, component bending and cutting machines. May need basic brazing, soldering, and induction machine of assembly parts

May need basic welding. May need general machining of basic parts (sanding, punch press)

Essential Functions

Grip and grasp tools and parts for assembly; repetitive lifting of materials/parts weighing 5-10 lbs; form parts and perform fine manipulation; turning and twisting wrists and hands.
