Aerotek is hiring for an Entry-Level to Experienced Mechanical Assembler in Hillsboro, OR. The role involves light mechanical and electrical assembly on composite pallets for circuit boards, following blueprints and safety standards, with a growth path toward CNC operation, machine operator, and machinist roles.

You will use basic hand/power tools, read blueprints, and perform deburring and basic wiring as needed.

Job Title: Entry-Level to Experienced Mechanical Assembler

Job Description

This role offers an excellent hands-on opportunity for individuals with mechanical aptitude or assembly experience to perform light mechanical and electronic assembly in an industrial shop environment. You will work on composite pallets that support circuit boards through automated SMT and Wave Solder processes, while following blueprints, assembly instructions, and safety standards. The position is designed as a growth path, with the goal of developing into a machine operator and eventually a machinist.

Responsibilities

• Perform light mechanical assembly of composite pallets used to hold circuit boards through SMT and Wave Solder automated processes.
• Utilize basic hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and assembly instructions to build units accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct deburring and part finishing to ensure components meet quality standards.
• Assist with electronic and electrical assembly tasks, including basic wiring as needed.
• Use measuring tools such as tape measures and other measuring devices to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Maintain general shop cleanliness and upkeep, keeping work areas organized and safe.
• Follow all production safety standards and shop procedures consistently.
• Work at standing work benches for the entirety of the shift, maintaining focus and productivity.
• Demonstrate a positive, driven attitude and strong work ethic with consistent tenure and minimal job hopping.
• Show the ability and drive to be trained to run CNC machines over time, progressing toward machine operator and machinist responsibilities.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude, including comfort using basic hand tools such as screwdrivers.
• Ability to perform mechanical assembly and light electronic or electrical assembly tasks.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and assembly instructions for building units.
• Experience or capability using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Comfort with wiring, schematics, and electronics at a basic assembly level.
• Ability to stand for the entirety of the day shift (7:00 am 3:30 pm) at standing work benches.
• Strong work ethic and positive, driven attitude.
• Stable work history with minimal job hopping.
• Commitment to following production safety standards and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior assembly experience in mechanical, electronic, or electrical environments.
• Experience working with blueprints in an assembly or construction setting.
• Familiarity with construction-style tools, including hand tools, power tools, tape measures, and other measuring tools.
• Experience with electrical assembly and electrical wiring.
• Interest and motivation to learn how to operate CNC mills and other CNC machines.
• Desire to grow into a machine operator role and eventually develop into a machinist.
• Decent tenure in previous roles, demonstrating reliability and commitment.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
