Job summary

Harborview Medical Center, part of UW Medicine in Seattle, seeks an Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Specialist (ENDT Technologist 3) to support neurosurgical procedures with complex ENDT testing and real-time monitoring.

Responsibilities include electrode placement, recording in the operating room, artifact management, and on-call coverage. Successful candidates have ENDT training and at least two years of lab experience; credentials like CNIM or R.EEG T are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist training program accredited by the appropriate board and two years of experience in a laboratory performing clinical electroneurodiagnostic tests
  • Equivalent education/experience acceptable if standards met

Responsibilities

  • Developing procedures for recording and analyzing complex neurophysiologic responses in the operating room
  • Apply biopotential electrodes for ENDT testing during neurosurgical procedures
  • Record electrical activity with standard montages and document observations
  • Identify technical problems during procedures and troubleshoot as needed
  • Assist in training other IONM staff and participate in research activities

The Harborview Operating Rooms have an outstanding opportunity for an Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Specialist (Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist 3).

WORK SCHEDULE

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Support attending surgeon and attending anesthesiologist by performing tests, monitoring, and examination duties, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate professional growth and behavior while supporting the job's standards and daily practices, advocacy, customer service, safety, responses to emergencies, quality assessment, improvement activities, and HIPAA policies/procedures.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Developing procedures for and conducting, recording and analyzing complex computer-averaged electrical responses of the eyes, ears, peripheral nerves, spinal cord and brain, as well as responses from muscle groups, to appropriate stimuli in the operating room
  • Apply a variety of biopotential electrodes as necessary for special and complex electroneurodiagnostic testing and other electrophysiologic recordings, including those from the exposed brain during neurosurgical procedures
  • Record electrical activity using standard montages following departmental guidelines; document recording parameters, technical and clinical observations on the recording; recognize, monitor, and/or eliminate artifacts
  • Identify technical and physiologic problems during procedures in complex environments, troubleshoot and resolve problems encountered
  • In addition, the IONM Specialist III performs charge Technologist duties, assists in training IONM specialists, residents, and participates in research activities
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of an Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist training program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation requirements AND two years of experience in a laboratory performing clinical electroneurodiagnostic tests

OR

equivalent education/experience.

DESIRED

Any of the following credentials: CNIM, R.EP T., R.EEG T.
