CitiMed is looking for an EMG/NCV Technician to perform Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) and support electromyography (EMG) examinations across our Queens and Bronx locations. All EMG/NCV testing is performed on-site with a supervising physician present; the technician works directly alongside the physician for every examination. This role brings in-house a service we currently outsource, and is ideal for an experienced, dependable technician who produces reliable, well-documented studies and is comfortable traveling between clinic sites
About the Role
The EMG/NCV Technician will perform nerve conduction studies and assist in electromyography examinations, ensuring high-quality patient care and accurate data collection.
Responsibilities
- Perform nerve conduction studies (NCV) under the direct, on-site supervision of a physician, per established protocols and physician orders.
- Prepare patients for EMG/NCV procedures: verify identity, explain the test, and answer basic questions.
- Accurately place electrodes and operate EMG/NCV equipment to obtain reliable, interpretable data.
- Assist the supervising physician during needle EMG examinations — adjust settings, record data, and document findings as directed.
- Review patient history and indications for testing; confirm orders and clarify discrepancies with the ordering provider before testing.
- Document procedures, test parameters, and observations accurately and contemporaneously in the EMR.
- Maintain, calibrate, and clean EMG/NCV equipment; promptly report malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Transport and set up equipment for testing at assigned locations.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout testing; follow all CitiMed infection-control, patient-safety, and substance-impairment policies.
- Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and front-office staff to support on-time scheduling and efficient clinic flow across sites.
- Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement, and compliance activities as required.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated NCV experience — required: minimum 1 year (or 250+ documented patient encounters) performing nerve conduction studies under physician supervision, or graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited neurodiagnostic technology program.
- Working knowledge of neuroanatomy and neuromuscular physiology relevant to EMG/NCV.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record — this is a traveling position.
- Ability to follow detailed protocols, maintain accurate records, and manage time effectively across multiple sites.
- Strong patient communication and customer-service skills.
- Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliant).
