Job description

Electromechanical Reliability Technician

Building People that Build the World. At SPX Technologies, we create smarter, safer, and more efficient solutions across HVAC and Detection & Measurement. Through our RiSE framework (Reach, Identify, Strengthen, Engage), we invest in your growth so you can do the best work of your career.

Where You’ll Make an Impact

This role supports our Electric Heat business—home to trusted brands such as QMark, Indeeco, Berko, and Brasch. We engineer electric heating and ventilation products for commercial, industrial, and residential environments, including baseboard, wall, unit, and infrared heaters, plus ceiling fans and air circulators.

A Day in the Life

Morning starts with a plant walk-through—listening for unusual bearings, scanning vibration trends, and checking PM schedules. By mid-morning, you’re tracing an electrical fault from a panel to a fixture, updating a lockout/tagout (LOTO) checklist, and fabricating a guard. After lunch, you might replace a pneumatic valve, run conduit for a new heater bank, weld a support bracket for non-production work, and finish with time-and-material estimates for next week’s shutdown tasks. You leave machines safer, systems dialed in, and people confident they can do their jobs.

What You’ll Do
  • Service and repair HVAC, plumbing, building structures, and electrical wiring/fixtures using blueprints and manuals.
  • Restore windows, doors, and locks to proper operation.
  • Execute scheduled PMs: inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and pinpoint defects in mechanical systems.
  • Disassemble equipment to access failed components; repair and reassemble to spec.
  • Measure, cut, replace, repair, and install conduit, pipe, and tubing for gas, air, water, ventilation, hydraulic or electric lines, and plumbing.
  • Install/replace electrical or plumbing equipment, wiring, and fixtures; build/repair counters, benches, partitions, and other structures.
  • Complete non-production painting as assigned.
  • Operate plant equipment as necessary to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Perform electric arc welding on non-production assignments.
  • Install guards and other safety equipment within capability.
  • Provide time-and-material estimates ahead of maintenance work.
  • Assist in creating operating instructions for machinery/equipment, including LOTO procedures, power-up/power-down steps, and calculations for CFM, voltage, wattage, amperage requirements, and loads.
What You Bring
  • Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, plus fundamental building maintenance.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Training
  • Accredited technical courses in: Maintenance Electricity (3 terms), Hydraulics (2 terms), Pipefitting (2 terms), Industrial Maintenance Mechanics (1 term), Electric Arc Welding (1 term).
Physical & Environmental Conditions
  • Regularly: stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb/balance, stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl, talk/hear; occasionally sit and taste/smell.
  • Lift/move: regularly up to 10 lbs; frequently up to 25 lbs.
  • Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Exposure: moving mechanical parts (regular), wet/humid conditions (frequent), high/precarious places (frequent), outside weather (frequent), risk of electrical shock (frequent), vibration (frequent); fumes/airborne particles and toxic/caustic chemicals (occasional). Work environment noise is usually very loud.
Why SPX
  • Flexible, generous paid time off—including personal time, caregiver, parental, and volunteer leave.
  • Day‑one benefits: competitive health plans and 401(k) match.
  • Performance‑based compensation and bonus opportunities.
  • Educational assistance, leadership development, and recognition programs.
