Job summary

Select Source International in Abbott Park, IL is seeking an Engineer II to provide hands-on laboratory support for troubleshooting and evaluating complex electromechanical systems used in product development. The role is lab-focused (about 80%), diagnosing PCBs, cables, fluidics, motors and valves with oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools.

You will work independently to identify root causes, conduct testing, document findings, and collaborate with software, hardware, firmware, and systems

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of engineering experience preferred; hands-on lab experience required.
• Experience troubleshooting electronic and electromechanical systems.
• Ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues independently.
• Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment with repetitive testing.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and fault isolate PCBs, cables, fluids, motors, and related hardware.
• Use oscilloscopes and diagnostic tools to identify issues.
• Run system tests and analyses to support development.
• Collaborate with software, hardware, firmware, and systems engineers.
• Document results and generate test reports.
• Assemble prototypes, fixtures, and breadboards for testing.
• Create and update procedures, schematics and layouts.
• Apply engineering principles to solve problems with minimal supervision.
• Support continuous improvement and risk management.
• Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and quality systems.
