Department of Electromechanical Engineering Technology. The Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department strives to be a leader in polytechnic education in Engineering Technology, where hands‑on learning is the foundation of a broad-based educational experience. The success of our undergraduate programs results from the solid curriculum that incorporates theory and practice in a learning‑centered environment. Students are provided with opportunities to apply their knowledge in hands‑on projects, collaborate with faculty members on projects. The department offers two undergraduate programs which are Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology (EMSET) and Electronic Systems Engineering Technology (ESET). The programs strength lies in being a blend of multiple disciplines and offering a broader background to students. Since the department offers engineering technology programs, the programs offers a significant number of laboratories. The department has 6 tenure/tenure track faculty. We strongly believe in the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion and the integral roles they play in achieving teaching, research, and service excellence.

Position description

The Electromechanical Engineering Technology Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall 2027. We seek candidates with expertise in electronics systems and devices or signal processing. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a broad range of Electronic Systems Engineering Technology courses as well as relevant Electromechanical Systems Engineering Technology courses e.g. A) Electronic Devices, B) Digital Electronics, C) Electronic Networks, D) Microcontrollers, including updating and developing new lecture and laboratory courses in these areas. Additional desirable areas of teaching or knowledge which are taught or being developed in the program include 1) Communication Systems both Analog/RF, Microwave and Digital/Data Systems, 2) Industrial Electronic Systems, and 3) Robotics and Motion Control Systems Design and 4) Current AI knowledge as applied to Undergraduate Engineering Education.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent teaching, scholarly activity, written and oral communication skills and is expected to involve students in scholarly activities.

A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university by the date of appointment is required. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence and student success, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.

Minimum requirements include

• Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Electrical Engineering, or a closely aligned field. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
• Commitment to the practical application of engineering principles as demonstrated in the teaching statement.
• Ability to demonstrate excellent teaching, and develop and support Electronic System Engineering Technology laboratories.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

1. Academic experience and strength in electronic system, electronic devices or signal processing.
2. Industrial experience in the electronics areas that will enhance teaching and scholarly activity and help in developing industry contacts.
3. Demonstrated ability for authoring peer-reviewed publications and scholarly activity involving students.
4. Strong communication skills.
