The Boeing Company in Tukwila, WA is seeking an Electromagnetic Effects Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced, Career or Expert) to develop and validate E3 requirements and architectures for Boeing Defense, Space & Security programs. This role focuses on EMI, Lightning, HIRF, P-static, EMP environments.

You will perform tests to validate designs, work with manufacturing and suppliers, and contribute to cross-functional reviews. The position is onsite and requires U.S.

Qualificações

  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
  • 1+ year experience in electromagnetic concepts (RF isolation, shielding, grounding, filtering).
  • Willing to travel up to 25% domestically.

Responsabilidades

  • Perform trade studies, modeling and simulations to predict component and system E3 performance.
  • Ensure EMI/EMC of electronics, wiring, and structure with minimal direction at higher levels.
  • Interface with manufacturing and suppliers on E3 design aspects and report to management.

  • Develop work statements, budgets, schedules, and design/review inputs.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to assess changes on electromagnetic characteristics and mitigations.

Electromagnetic Effects Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced, Career or Expert)

Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Group seeks an Electromagnetic Effects Design and Analysis Engineer to support BDS commercial-derivative aircraft programs such as the U.S. E-7A and the KC-46A tanker among others in Tukwila, WA. This engineer will develop and validate E3 requirements and architectures to integrate complex components and subsystems into higher-level platforms. Responsibilities include defining and conducting tests to validate designs to requirements and providing Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) expertise during design, modification, supplier engagement, and manufacturing activities. E3 environments include EMI, Lightning, High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Precipitation Static (P-static), Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), and related environments. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced, Career or Expert Level Engineers.

Position Responsibilities
  • Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation, and other analyses to predict component, interconnect, and system performance and to optimize designs for E3 performance.
  • Work (with minimal direction at higher levels) to achieve EMC of electronics, wiring, and structure.
  • Interface with manufacturing and suppliers on complex E3 design aspects to assure system-level compatibility; identify and report achievements and issues to program management and customers.
  • Review supplier test plans and test reports for technical correctness; identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support project management by contributing to development of work statements, budgets, schedules, and design/review inputs.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and suppliers to assess changes to equipment, determine impacts on electromagnetic characteristics, and recommend mitigations.
  • Develop and implement test automation for aircraft modifications.
  • Apply EMI engineering methods to document and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Apply conversion, correction, and antenna factors to EMI/EMC analyses and tests.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams and present technical results in internal and external reviews.
  • Process engineering data into tables, graphs, and deliverables for inclusion in reports.
  • Support or conduct aircraft-level E3 testing.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 1+ years of experience with Electromagnetic concepts (such as RF isolation, shielding, grounding, and filtering).
  • Able and willing to travel up to 25% of the time domestically.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Career (Level 3): 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert (Level 4): 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s in electrical engineering or an advanced degree (M.S./Ph.D.) in electrical engineering preferred.
  • Active U.S. Security Clearance preferred.
  • Prior experience in defense or aerospace industries.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and/or DO-160 EMI/EMC standards.
  • Prior experience with Aerospace E3.
  • Experience with EMI qualification testing (LRUs and system-level).
  • Familiarity with electrical bonding best practices to support E3 compliance.
  • Foundation in RF systems and/or computational E3 analysis tools.
