Job summary

Solid Power is seeking an Electrolyte R&D Scientist I/II to join our team of engineers and scientists in Louisville, KY. The role focuses on solid-state electrolyte development and battery materials optimization, working closely with senior scientists in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The candidate will synthesize and characterize materials, analyze data, and report findings while adhering to safety and lab protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field.
• Experience in an academic or industrial lab environment.
• Comfort with safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment.
• Experience in material characterization techniques is a plus (XRD, EIS, FTIR, DSC/TGA, Raman, SEM/EDS).
• Experience in synthetic chemistry and knowledge of Li-ion battery materials optimization is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute planned experimentation to modify and improve solid-state electrolytes.
• Perform material synthesis, characterization, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Communicate results and roadblocks to the broader team.
• Maintain lab safety and proper disposal of hazardous materials.
