Job summary

A leading healthcare provider is seeking an Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technician to conduct medical tests measuring brain electrical activity. The role involves performing routine EEG tests and calibrating equipment under supervision, as well as preparing reports to assist neurologists in diagnosing various conditions. Ideal candidates will have completed an accredited Neurodiagnostics training program with a BLS certification.

Job description

Electroencephalogram (EEG) Technician

The EEG Technician conducts medical tests that measure the electrical activity of the brain, assisting in diagnosing conditions such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, and brain tumors. This role involves performing routine EEG tests and calibrations to meet professional standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate and reliable results. The technician works under supervision to maintain and troubleshoot EEG equipment, ensuring optimal performance.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine EEG tests, including impedance checks, photic stimulation, hyperventilation, and video monitoring, to support accurate neurological assessments and diagnoses.
  2. Identify and reduce artifact contamination in EEG and video recordings.
  3. Maintain EEG equipment through calibration and troubleshooting to ensure readiness and accuracy, promoting reliable procedures.
  4. Prepare test reports, maintain test data, and collect patient history and medication information to aid neurologists in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  5. Maintain a clean and safe testing environment, employing infection control practices to ensure patient safety.
  6. Explain EEG procedures to patients to enhance understanding and cooperation, promoting a positive experience.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited Neurodiagnostics training program or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in EEG testing preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS (CPR) certification from American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider required.
