Job summary

nLIGHT DEFENSE Systems, Inc. in Longmont, CO seeks an experienced Electro-Optical Engineering Manager to lead, mentor and deliver advanced HEL and beam control systems.

You will fuse strong technical leadership with people management, guide architecture, requirements, verification, and customer engagements while building high-performing multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidates must have 10+ years of experience and a Bachelor's in engineering; DoD clearance or eligibility preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Systems, Electrical, Optical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of engineering leadership experience.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and balance technical, schedule, and cost objectives.
• Security clearance or eligible for DoD clearance.
• Strong communication with engineers, executives, customers, and government reps.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop EO Engineers across levels.
• Define technical direction, standards, and best practices.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for HEL and BCS systems.
• Serve as senior technical authority on architecture, requirements, interfaces, verification.
• Manage resources, staffing, and workload across programs.
• Engage with Program Managers, engineering leaders, and customers during reviews and demonstrations.
