Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Space Data Network Payload Systems Engineer to lead electro-optic payload integration for SDN satellites. You will work on-site in El Segundo, coordinating with the government customer and internal teams to ensure compliance with technical requirements.

The role requires a strong background in spacecraft payload interfaces, program management experience, and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physical science or related technical degree.
• 8 or more years of engineering experience, including systems engineering and/or program management experience.
• Experience presenting results to diverse internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate with government customers, Aerospace, contractors and stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Willing to travel domestically (approximately 20%).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SSBI/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the EST program’s lead electro-optic payload integrator for laser communication payloads on SDN satellites and government systems.
• Advise the SDN government customer in developing and assessing key technical requirements.
• Lead a diverse team within Aerospace ETG to manage technical risks across the acquisition life cycle.
• Ensure collaboration across SDN, other Aerospace program offices and ETG staff.
• Establish and maintain trust with the government customer.
