HP Hood, a leading dairy manufacturer in Upstate New York, seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure daily production equipment runs smoothly, starts up, operates, shuts down, and is sanitized per SOPs.

Shift: Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00pm–6:30am. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to equipment breakdowns, maintain plant safety and GMP compliance, and carry your own tools. Prior experience in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance in a dairy/food manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of GMP and sanitation policies.
• Ability to pass pulmonary function test annually.
• Must supply your own small hand tools.

Responsabilités

• The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure on time start-up of equipment.
• Expedite all categories 3 & 4 Work Orders and maintain High Risk Work Permits.
• Adherence to GMP, sanitation policies, and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain environmental paperwork and WWTP operations knowledge.
• Assist in designing, improving, and installing equipment to meet safety and production needs.
• Repair equipment breakdowns, perform preventative maintenance, and general repair.
• Carry out building repairs, plumbing, electrical work, and boiler maintenance.
• Operate, maintain, and repair the ammonia system.
• Attend meetings and mandatory training; wear PPE and follow safety procedures.
• Perform chemical testing for Central Sanitizer, House Water, and Cheese Water.
• Maintain SQF-related food safety and quality tasks and keep the area sanitary.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure daily operations of equipment in a production setting, to include start up, operation, shut down, and sanitation of all related equipment according to Standard Operation Procedures.

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday 10:00pm - 6:30am.

Job Essentials:

• The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure on time start-up of equipment.
• Expedite all categories 3 & 4 (Food Quality/Food & Employee Safety) Work Orders and maintain High Risk Work Permits per SQF.
• Adherence to all plant GMP and sanitation policies. Compliance with all OSHA regulations as well as 100% plant safety policies.
• Working knowledge of WWTP operations and able to maintain and complete required environmental paperwork.
• Assist in designing, improving, and installing equipment and systems to improve plant quality, safety, and production needs.
• Responsible for the repair of all equipment breakdowns, preventative maintenance programs, and general repair.
• General maintenance including building repairs, plumbing, electrical work, boiler maintenance.
• Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and general repairs to the anhydrous ammonia system.
• Must provide your own small hand tools.
• Must pass pulmonary function/respiratory test annually.
• Attend scheduled meetings and mandatory training as required.
• Perform Central Sanitizer, House Water, and Cheese Water chemical testing each shift.
• Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
• Maintain all documented information as per SQF requirements.
• Work overtime, as needed, which will require an obligation from you to fulfill.
• Carry out all additional duties assigned by a supervisor or foreman.
• Understand and follow all safety procedures, always wear proper PPE, never put yourself or other employees in harm’s way.
