$25.00/hr - $40.00/hr

Our client, a family owned and operated crane builder company, is looking for Electro- Mechanical Technicians. Positions are based in the Saratoga area with some travel required.

Whether you have only worked as an electrician/mechanic for a couple years or if you already have a successful career as an overhead crane technician with another company, this role is for you. Your motivation, dedication, and work ethic will be the reason for your success.

As an overhead crane technician, you will work in many different locations and work environments. You will spend time inside manufacturing and infrastructure facilities that help create the world we live in, many of which most people will never see.

Most daily responsibilities include: attending the morning meeting, loading a truck with tools and equipment, traveling to various customers which include but not limited to paper mills, combined cycle power plants, hydroelectric dams, stone quarries and processing facilities, machine shops, general manufacturing facilities, pharmaceutical production, and computer chip manufacturers. Since cranes are vital to many essential goods and services, this job is extremely stable and has proven to be recession and pandemic resistant, you can expect a minimum of 40 hours a week.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on various types of overhead cranes and lifting equipment both in the field and at our shop.

• Conduct extensive on-site electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

• Read and understand mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings.

• Perform operational tests after installing electrical wiring and components on new build equipment in our shop.

• Load test and/or perform non-destructive testing of various types of cranes, hoists, components, and parts.

• Working in accordance with customer, company, and OSHA established safety and procedure requirements.

• Record the results of inspections neatly and accurately so that repair criteria is evident.

• Working at heights from scissor lifts, boom lifts, ladders, and catwalks.

• Operate various trucks, forklifts, man lifts, cranes, hoists, and other equipment.

• Maintain regular communication with the service office.

• Work together with the service manager/project manager to ensure paperwork and quotes are accurate and customers’ needs have been satisfied.

Requirements:

• Participation in our 24/7 on-call rotation.

• Some out-of-town travel. Based on demand but generally 4 nights a month on average. During your travel, the company pays for your food and accommodations.

• Good communication skills both verbal and written.

• Valid driver's license in good standing.

• Aptitude for both electrical and mechanical systems.

• Ability to work 7:00AM-3:30 PM with extended hours as required.

• Must pass drug screen and background check.

• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with customers.

• You will be expected to supply your own basic hand tools by the end of 90 days, all other tools/equipment will be provided.

• Commute to Saratoga Springs, NY

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand/walk 95% of the work day.

• Lift/carry up to 40-50 pounds unassisted.

• Squat, twist reach, climb, and bend frequently.

• Ability to push/pull material and equipment.

• Hand/eye coordination and bilateral dexterity (gross and fine).

• Depth perception and peripheral vision.

• The ability to hear.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Associate degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field, or equivalent vocational technical training and experience.

• Strong knowledge of electrical theory as well as the ability to troubleshoot 480VAC 3 phase motor control systems.

• Prior experience working as a crane technician.

• Maintenance mechanics/millwrights with strong electrical and mechanic skills or technicians from an industrial environment are highly encouraged to apply.
