Job summary

Gelita USA operates a gelatine manufacturing facility in Calumet City, IL. We seek an Electro-Mechanical Technician to maintain and repair equipment, reduce downtime, and perform preventive maintenance around the clock.

You will troubleshoot PLC systems, handle mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation tasks, and support ISO, GMP, and food safety policies. Some on-call work at nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Pass Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude tests with 80% or higher.
• Experience in batch or continuous process food or chemical production preferred.
• Experience with PLC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of gelatine facility equipment incl mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, welding, rigging, and machining.
• Advanced electronic/instrumentation troubleshooting/repair.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair PLC systems.
• Follow safety, GMP, ISO policies; keep maintenance shop clean.
• On-call nights, weekends, holidays as needed.

Job SummaryThe Electro-Mechanical Technician will be able to maintain and repair equipment related to the operation of a gelatine manufacturing facility. This individual is required to reduce downtime, respond to equipment failures and be able to conduct preventive maintenance for operations to continue over a 24 hour time period. Support the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 management systems and the Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety Policy as appropriate in the function.Essential FunctionsPerform work tasks as directed by the General Maintenance SupervisorMaintenance and repair of equipment related to the operation of a gelatine manufacturing facility including mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, welding, rigging, and machiningAdvanced Electronic/Instrumentation Troubleshooting/Repair.Maintain, troubleshoot and repair Process Logic Control (PLC) SystemsFollow company policies and procedures while maintaining equipmentFollow safety policies and procedures in the plant.Maintain a clean maintenance shop by keeping good sanitation, housekeeping, and GMP standards.Ammonia refrigeration troubleshooting/repair.Utility troubleshooting/repair (ie. Boilers).Perform all tasks that can be completed by a MechanicThis position will work daytime hours Monday through Friday, with some on-call work as necessary on nights, weekends, and holidaysMinimum Education:Technical degree or equivalent experience.Successfully pass both Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude qualification test with a 80% or higherMinimum Work Experience:Experience in a batch or continuous process food or chemical production environment is preferred.Experience with PLC control systems is a plus.
