Job summary

The ideal candidate will support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 systems, uphold the Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety Policy, and work daytime hours with on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Pass mechanical and electrical aptitude tests with 80% or higher.
• Experience with PLC control systems is a plus.
• Experience in batch or continuous process food or chemical production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment in a gelatine manufacturing facility.
• Reduce downtime by diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation faults.
• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and FSSC 22000 systems and related policies.
• Maintain GMP standards and plant safety while servicing process equipment.
• Troubleshoot ammonia refrigeration and other utility systems as needed.
• Lubricate and maintain mechanical components to ensure consistent operation.
• Work with General Maintenance Supervisor on daily tasks and on-call rotations.

The Electro-Mechanical Technician will be able to maintain and repair equipment related to the operation of a gelatine manufacturing facility. This individual is required to reduce downtime, respond to equipment failures and be able to conduct preventive maintenance for operations to continue over a 24 hour time period. Support the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 management systems and the Quality, Environmental, and Food Safety Policy as appropriate in the function.

Essential Functions

• Perform work tasks as directed by the General Maintenance Supervisor


• Maintenance and repair of equipment related to the operation of a gelatine manufacturing facility including mechanical, plumbing, pipefitting, welding, rigging, and machining


• Advanced Electronic/Instrumentation Troubleshooting/Repair.


• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair Process Logic Control (PLC) Systems


• Follow company policies and procedures while maintaining equipment


• Follow safety policies and procedures in the plant.


• Maintain a clean maintenance shop by keeping good sanitation, housekeeping, and GMP standards.


• Ammonia refrigeration troubleshooting/repair.


• Utility troubleshooting/repair (ie. Boilers).


• Perform all tasks that can be completed by a Mechanic

This position will work daytime hours Monday through Friday, with some on-call work as necessary on nights, weekends, and holidays

QualificationsMinimum Education:

• Technical degree or equivalent experience.


• Successfully pass both Mechanical and Electrical Aptitude qualification test with a 80% or higher

Minimum Work Experience:

• Experience in a batch or continuous process food or chemical production environment is preferred.


• Experience with PLC control systems is a plus.
