Job summary

Neros Inc. in Torrance, CA is looking for a hands-on Quality Engineer to own electro-mechanical build quality as we scale production. You’ll partner with manufacturing and engineering to contain issues, perform root cause investigations, and ensure every unit meets performance targets in demanding environments.

You will lead defect investigations, drive in-line checks, and maintain inspection plans while ensuring calibration and measurement programs are robust across the factory.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a quality, manufacturing, reliability, or design engineering role on electro-mechanical hardware.
• Experience with GD&T and hands-on metrology (calipers, height gauges, CMM, visual inspection).
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for querying production data and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day electro-mechanical build quality across the factory as the go-to engineer for assembly/integration issues.
• Act as first responder for quality issues on the line: disposition defects, contain suspect product, MRB for nonconformances.
• Lead root cause investigations with engineering and verify fixes hold on the line.
• Track line metrics (FPY, defect Pareto, scrap/rework, escapes) and use SPC to catch drift.
• Run regular build quality reviews on defect trends and drive top issues to closure.
• Partner with manufacturing/engineering to add inline checks and error-proofing when data supports it.
• Drive DFQ by feeding line defect data back to engineering to improve manufacturability.
• Create/maintain inspection plans and first article inspections for new builds, design revisions, and process changes.
• Review work instructions and inspection criteria for clarity, objectivity, and verifiability.
• Certify inspectors and operators to workmanship standards and manage measurement/calibration program (gauges, torque tools, Gage R&R).
