Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Mattoon, IL seeks a Shift Maintenance Technician to keep production equipment and facilities safe and productive. You will work on electro-mechanical systems, support new installations, and drive reliability improvements across the plant.

The role requires strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, fabrication, rigging, pipe fitting, and hands-on tool skills. You will train associates, participate in continuous improvement, and operate under 12-hour rotating shifts,

Qualifications

High School diploma or Equivalent.
Associate degree in a technical-related discipline or >10 years in a technical field.
Strong knowledge of plant flow, operation, and utilities.
Electrical troubleshooting: AC/DC, single/polyphase, low/high voltage.

Responsibilities

Analyze conditions, troubleshoot failures, repair and perform preventative/predictive maintenance on production equipment, building and utilities, and all associated equipment.
Initiate, plan, and coordinate work performed by other associates, contractors, and/or self.
Prioritize and manage work to implement immediate repairs and ensure permanent fixes within 14 days.
Lead in technical troubleshooting of process, mechanical, and electrical issues affecting schedules.
Train shift associates on setup, change-over, and operation of equipment.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using Man Machine Interface and PLC logic.
Ensure all work orders and logs are complete and accurate.
Complete planned work as assigned.
Maintain and improve electrical and mechanical knowledge to enhance customer service levels.
Address food safety and quality concerns.
