FAA Testing Required Job Description:Reporting to the Waterjet Engineering Manager, this Engineer will work with Waterjet and ATD teams in the design, development, implementation and testing of machine hardware and software, the customization of existing machinery, and product advancement utilizing existing methodologies and materials as well as new technologies. Will research and analyze test data for existing as well as new or developmental equipment/processes and present findings in applicable formats. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design, development, implementation, and testing of machine hardware and software
  • Assist in the customization of existing machinery
  • Trouble shoot machine and process related issues effecting part quality and throughput; research both off the shelf and custom solutions and present findings
  • Product advancement through use of new material and development of new technology
  • Operate and test machines or assemblies on the shop floor or in a test bench scenario
  • Collect and analyze data on prototype machines or assemblies and write reports of findings
  • Additional tasks and projects as needed by supervisor or department manager
  • Adhere to AS9100 and other quality standards

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field- Documentation required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with CNC machines, controls engineering, mechanical assembly, programming
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • The ability to identify problems and to assist with resolutions, including the ability to acquire and apply new knowledge and skills
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person- documentation required
  • The ability to write effectively, to read and understand work documents, to communicate information clearly to coworkers and supervisors, and the ability to listen attentively and comprehend key pieces of spoken information
  • Must have good communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to confer, communicate, and collaborate with Engineers and Technicians
  • Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing in English
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Software (i.e. Excel, Word)
  • Ongoing FAA Testing and Training Mandatory
  • MTI is a safety manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment FAA drug testing will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong math background in Calculus and Trigonometry

Physical Demands/Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. Will require the ability to use various size hand tools on a regular basis. Use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse and keyboard - 10% of the work day). The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Must be able to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
