Job summary

GapVax LLC in Johnstown, PA is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Controls Engineer to maintain and develop control systems for their fleet of vacuum and municipal trucks. The role includes designing electrical boxes and panels, updating BOMs in ERP, and collaborating with mechanical design teams.

You will use CREO Parametric and AutoCAD Inventor to lay out panels, integrate CAN/J1939 networks, and work with wireless remotes, sensors, and actuators.

Qualifications

• Ability to use CREO Parametric and AutoCAD Inventor for solid modelling.
• Understand the intended use and safety requirements of GapVax equipment.
• Read, produce, and interpret drawings, work orders, and product sheets.
• Functional understanding of SAE-J1939 CAN Protocol.
• Ability to map CAN messaging for system hardware.
• Ability to load programs and flash hardware.
• Develop control logic (XML) for I/O modules and controllers.

Responsibilities

• Load programs and parameters into controllers and displays using the Danfoss Plus+1 service tool.
• Flash controllers, I/O modules, and HMI displays.
• Map CAN input/output messaging across CAN controllers, I/O modules and devices.
• Program wireless remotes for trucks; match program with option package and function.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues that affect testing readiness.
• Perform CAN traces with pCANView to diagnose control problems.
• Sign off on control system for each truck prior to testing.
• Collect serial numbers before trucks enter test; save files to Autodesk Vault.
• Create mechanical layouts for electrical boxes/panels using CREO/AutoCAD.
• Maintain and update BOMs for electrical systems in ERP.
• Integrate new components and subsystems into control systems.
• Support Product Development with programming, troubleshooting, and new product implementation.
