Job summary

Draper, an independent nonprofit R&D organization in Cambridge, MA, seeks an Electro-Mechanical Instrument Student Co-op or Intern to support inertial guidance instrument development. You will contribute to electro-mechanical design, thermal and magnetics design, hardware assembly, and testing with 3D modeling in CREO/SolidWorks.

Preferred candidates are Mechanical, Aerospace, or Applied Physics students with a minimum 3.0 GPA, hands-on experience, and familiarity with CAD tools.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design components is required.
  • Intuitive understanding of physical principles mandatory.
  • Experience with CAD/FEA tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support R&D of precision inertial guidance instruments in electro-mechanical design, testing and debugging.
  • Collaborate with prototype shop to evaluate machinability and assist in hardware assembly.
  • Model parts in CREO/SolidWorks and analyze with ANSYS/COMSOL; use LabVIEW or MATLAB as needed.
