Job summary

Boyd in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking an Engineering Technician to fabricate, assemble, modify, and evaluate electronic and mechanical parts for electronic equipment and thermal management systems. You will work within an inter-disciplinary team to address design and manufacturing challenges, including cable fabrication, wiring, PCB soldering, and test activities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant work experience in electrical and mechanical part/system assembly and test.
• Bachelor's or advanced engineering degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• Competent in reading drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Demonstrated experience in board-level electronic circuit soldering, including mixed-signal analog/digital.
• Experience with serial data, power, and sensor cable fabrication and quality checks.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues during board bring up and validation.
• Comfortable with standard lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assembling electrical product designs within an inter-disciplinary team to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges including cable fabrication and wiring.
• Assembling mechanical system components including motors, heat exchangers, and rack structures; install electrical components and review schematics.
• Lead testing on new and modified designs; develop test plans and qualification tests; maintain product documentation and test procedures.
